Selling
How long does a sale take?
Offers often come in the first month. Many close in three; six to eight months is typical.
Who buys the businesses you sell?
Owner-operators, investors and private-equity groups buying fuel and convenience. All qualified, all serious.
When is the best time to sell?
When business is good: easier buyers, better price. Not there yet? We’ll plan for the right moment.
What about taxes?
Part may be taxed as capital gain, often a lower rate. Ask your tax adviser before you sign.
Why not sell it myself?
You can, but it’s hard alone. We bring qualified buyers, keep it confidential, and handle paperwork and negotiation through closing.
How does a sale work, start to finish?
- Prep. We review the business and gather what buyers ask for.
- Price. Realistic, based on the valuation.
- Market it quietly. Details only after an NDA.
- Screen buyers. Funds and seriousness checked first.
- Negotiate. Price and terms, then a signed LOI.
- Due diligence. We help you answer fast.
- Purchase agreement. Final price, terms and conditions.
- Close. Signatures, transfers, funds, and a smooth handover.
Buying
Should I consider an SBA-backed loan?
Often, yes: reasonable down payments, fixed rates, long terms. We’ll introduce lenders.
Can you recommend legal and financial counsel?
Yes: attorneys, accountants and lenders.
Why buy a business instead of starting one?
Customers, staff and cash flow from day one. Far less risk.
Valuation
How do you decide what my business is worth?
Real income, assets and recent comparable sales. Done in house, an honest range.
How do you value a business for sale?
Financials, assets, location and comparable sales, same as for a seller.
Profit, cash flow and discretionary earnings: what is the difference?
Profit: what’s left after expenses. Cash flow: money in and out. Discretionary earnings: adds back owner perks. The number buyers compare.
What is goodwill?
Value beyond physical assets: brand, regulars, contracts, know-how.
Confidentiality
How can I sell without everyone finding out?
Nothing is shared until you approve it. Buyers sign an NDA first. You control who knows.
Will there be a sign or a public address?
Neither. NDA and proof of funds before any name or numbers.
When can buyers see financials and tax returns?
A summary first. Full statements only in due diligence, under NDA.
